Situated on 3200 ha within the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve which is located adjacent to the Kruger National Park with no boundary fences between them, this select 10 bed camp offers families, friends and small business groups a truly private wild life experience. Angela’s Safari Camp is a thatched, self-catering camp which provides absolute comfort while retaining the charm and ambiance of a bygone safari era.
All chalets are air-conditioned and have overhead fans, fly screens and en-suite bathrooms consisting of shower, basin vanity, and toilet. Bedroom chalets are named after internationally known local artists and photographers. Each chalet features the named individual’s work along with a brief personal profile. There are 5 chalets: 2 with queen-size beds and 3 with 2 single beds each. Rooms are serviced daily.
An entrance breezeway leads into an air-conditioned lounge with a TV and DStv access and a large open-plan dining room area that opens out through large foldaway doors to a veranda that is equipped with a bar and a bar fridge. All overlook a well established lawn and garden with an open ‘lapa braai’ area. The kitchen, pantry, scullery and laundry are well equipped with all crockery, cutlery, a 6 plate gas stove, microwave, steamer, fridge-freezer, additional fridge and chest freezer, and an ice machine.
At the ‘Look-Out’ built overlooking the river you will find a thatch covered deck, a fully equipped braai area and an infinity flow pool. Pool loungers, classic Morris chairs, wooden dining table and chairs, large umbrella and a drinks fridge add the finishing touches to this venue. Daily cleaning services are provided by 2 Chars and a Camp Guard. Wood for fires is supplied as well as the laying and cleaning of the braai fire.
The camp is located within a 5.5 hour drive from Johannesburg. SA Express has 2 daily flights from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit where guests can arrange for a transfer to the camp.
Game viewing at Camp George takes place twice daily with a Guide, providing guests with an opportunity to see a myriad of wild animals including, but not limited to, the big 5 and a vast number of bird species. The raw uncompromising bush veld, the variety of trees and the differing terrains add their own beauty to the experience of game drives. Game viewing times are flexible and tailored to the guests’ individual daily needs. No self drives are permitted. Overlooking a dam is a wonderful quiet venue where the anticipation of what might come down to drink keeps ones nerves tingling. Visits to the Halfway Inn Hide can be arranged with your ranger. Koppie Lookout: End an afternoon drive at the Koppie Lookout, watch the magical rainbow sunset transform into a star studded sky while animals come to drink at the dam below. All the while a fire slowly sizzles and sounds of the bush veld at night come alive. Bush braai activities can be arranged upon booking.
